More Danish Young People Headed for U.S.
The Embassy
June 27, 2007
On June 27 Ambassador Cain welcomed seven Danish students to the Embassy for a lunch in their honor. The seven students have been selected by the Danish-American Fulbright Commission and the U.S. Embassy to attend summer institutes for European student leaders in the U.S. in July and August. Each of the participants will be in the U.S. from 3-5 weeks attending one of three summer institutes funded by the U.S. Department of State which will take place at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; University of Nebraska in Omaha; and Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The purpose of the summer institutes is to bring together young leaders in Europe and the U.S. to study world affairs, American culture and politics, leadership, and problem solving. This is the second year the Fulbright Commission and the U.S. Embassy have sent Danish students to summer institutes in the U.S. The summer institute at Wake Forest University is named after American icon Benjamin Franklin and is focused on building strong transatlantic relationships among the next generation of American and European leaders. The seven Danish participants in the 2007 summer institutes are: Lisa Bei Ying Luk, Nora Ahmed-Kamal, Ramtin Mojaza, Fatima Amchicho, Salih Zeki Kaya, Tatevik Revazian, and Shaho Fazeli-Azar.
