Ambassador Cain Walks on World Diabetes Day
Ambassador Cain and his family walked to counter diabetes on World Diabetes Day November 14. The walk-a-thon was led by HRH Prince Joachim, patron of the Danish Diabetes Association along with his two sons Nikolai and Felix. A number of Danish celebrities supported the cause by performing free of charge before the walk, which consisted of a symbolic 246 steps, one step for each million persons diagnosed with diabetes. Speaking at the event Ambassador Cain said: "I understand the personal burden borne by diabetes sufferers as my wife Helen contracted the condition 18 years ago when she was pregnant with my daughter." He added: "This is a truly global issue. It can affect anyone anywhere in the world, but the progress being made by medical science is impressive and in this connection I particularly applaud the work being done by Novo Nordisk to find a cure." The day was marked throughout the world, including similar 246-step walks in Tokyo and New York.
