Ambassador Schulte on Danish National TV
U.S. Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Greg Schulte explained what the new National Intelligence Estimate implies in terms of on-going efforts to ensure that Iran not develop a nuclear weapons program in a December 4 interview for TV2. The TV2 anchor was able to interview Ambassador Schulte in a live-to-tape format in which the ambassador appeared on-screen from Vienna. Ambassador Schulte emphasized that "it is dangerous for Iran to have the technology to produce nuclear weapons." In response to a question from the anchor on whether the NIE makes the prospect of war with Iran less likely, Ambassador Schulte noted that "Sometimes I think that the only person who wants military engagement is President Ahmadinejad...Our goal is to try to achieve a diplomatic solution."
