Professor Fishkin speaks at two universities in Denmark

Professor Shelley Fisher Fishkin, Director of American Studies, Stanford University, visited Denmark October 31 - November 2, to speak about American Studies and to discuss her own work on Mark Twain. Professor Fishkin was keynote speaker at a conference on American Studies in the 21st Century sponsored by the Danish-American Fulbright Commission and the Danish Association of American Studies in Copenhagen. She also addressed students and faculty at the University of Southern Denmark on Mark Twain's opposition to racism, and offered undergraduates at Copenhagen University a new reading of "Huckleberry Finn".  She also gave interviews to Danish weekly Weekendavisen and to National Danish Radio's cultural program "Kulturnyt".

Professor Fishkin's presentations were well attended and well received. At both universities she participated in lively and informed discussions with the students.
