Ambassador Cain Welcomes Members of First Baptist Church of Alexandria
The Embassy
July 31, 2007
On July 31 Ambassador Cain welcomed 29 Americans from the First Baptist Church of Alexandria to the Embassy during a group visit to Copenhagen. Founded in 1803 the First Baptist Church of Alexandria has had a rich role in American history and continues to have a vibrant congregation today only minutes from the nation's capitol in Washington, D.C. The first pastor of the church, Jeremiah Moore, was one of the most prominent traveling preachers of the day and was instrumental in the adoption of the First Amendment of the Constitution of 1790 establishing the doctrine of separation of church and state.
