Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani Thanks Danish Firefighters for their Support for NYC Brethren

Frederiksberg Fire Station
October 2, 2005

Mayor Giuliani and Ambassador James P. Cain visited Frederiksberg Fire Station on October 2 to thank firemen who raised more than $100,000 (800,000 kroner) for the families of firefighters who gave their lives in the September 11 attacks.

In addition, Mayor Giuliani and Ambassador Cain thanked firemen from the band "Firefighters" who recorded a CD that sold more than 2,500 copies and raised an additional $10,000 (more than 50,000 kroner)
for the "Bravest Memorial," an initiative to build a monument dedicated to the more the 343 FDNY firefighters who died trying to save victims of the World Trade Center attacks.

Danish firefighters continue to go to the U.S. each year to mark the anniversary of September 11.

Mayor Giuliani described the spontaneous citizen initiative on the part of Danish firemen and band members as one of the most inspiring elements of the response to the tragedy of September 11.
