Ambassador Cain Engages Aalborg University Students at Town Hall Meeting
Aalborg, Jutland
November 21, 2006
On November 21, Ambassador Cain traveled to Aalborg for a town hall meeting attended by 60 students and faculty at the University of Aalborg. Ambassador Cain spoke on Denmark's role in international affairs, entrepreneurship, similarities and differences between Americans and Europeans, and the importance of studying abroad. He encouraged the students to apply for Fulbright scholarships to study at the master's level in the U.S., advising the students to consider applying to universities such as the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Chicago which typically receive few, if any, applications for Fulbright scholarships from Danes. The discussion after the Ambassador's remarks was about subjects ranging from global warming to the war against terrorism to U.S domestic politics.
The Ambassador also visited two research facilities at the University of Aalborg -- one dealing with 3D sound in Department of Acoustics and the other concentrating on broadband wireless living in the Center for Teleinfrastruktur (CTIF). While in Aalborg the Ambassador also met with Mayor Henning G. Jensen and with Muslim leaders at a local mosque.
