U.S. Expert Adds Perspective to Midterm Elections for Danish Audiences

Copenhagen and Aarhus
November 13-15

Analyzing the results of the midterm elections and their consequences for the 2008 Presidential election, John Fortier, Research Fellow, American Enterprise Institute, emphasized that while it is reasonable to anticipate a change in tone and some conciliatory gestures of bipartisanship from both sides, domestic and foreign policy will soon be overtaken by the presidential race.

Furthermore, the candidates themselves will become the real party leaders, he argued to politicians, journalists, business leaders and scholars during a three-day whirlwind program that ranged from Copenhagen Business School to Aarhus University via think tanks, media appearances, working lunches and dinners, as well as a session with the press corps at the Danish Parliament.
