Ambassador Cain Observes Danish Army Training for Deployment to Afghanistan at Camp Oksbøl

Camp Oksbøl, Jutland
September 19, 2006

Ambassador James P. Cain visited Jutland and the Danish Army Combat School to observe Danish soldiers in their final preparation for deployment to Afghanistan. Major General Poul Kiærskou, Commanding General of Danish Army Operations Command, escorted Ambassador Cain on a program that included a briefing on Danish Army developments in Afghanistan and the current status of the Danish Army contingent in Helmand Province.

Ambassador Cain also observed and met with Danish soldiers undergoing training for the detection of improvised explosive devices and methods of interacting with the local population in Afghanistan. The Ambassador thanked the soldiers for their sacrifices and commitment to this important mission. Ambassador Cain was also flown by a Danish Air Force helicopter from Oksbøl Training Area to the Kastellet in Copenhagen.
