4th of July Greetings from President Bush
The White House
Washington, July 3, 2006

I send greeting to those gathered for Denmark’s Rebild Festival as you celebrate the 230th anniversary of America’s Independence.

All who love freedom are linked together across the generations and across the world. Since 1912, Danes and Americans have come together in the Rebild Hills of Denmark to celebrate the strong bonds and shared beliefs between our two countries. Denmark and the United States are joined by a common respect for liberty and human rights, and the dignity of every person, and Denmark is a steadfast and strong ally in the war on terror. America values the longstanding relationship between our nations, and we are grateful for the many contributions of our Danish-American citizens. Last July, Laura and I were honored to visit Denmark, and I look forward to further strengthening our relationship and continuing to work together to lay the foundation for peace for generations to come.

We send our best wishes for a happy fourth of July. May God bless the people of Denmark and all the sons and daughters of Denmark who call America home.

George W. Bush
