Rosie Bichon and Isaac Barron Conduct Hip-Hop Clinics in Denmark

Denmark
May 22 - June 10, 2007

Husband and wife team Rosie Bichon from UrgeWorks and Isaac Barron from HaviKoro conducted a series of break-dance and hip-hop workshops in Denmark from May 22 through June 10.  The American dance team worked with several Danish organizations, among them To The Beat Break Dancing Association, Dans i Nordvest, Næstved Youth School, and the Aarhus Youth School.  From June 4 -10, Isaac and Rosie ran workshops as part of the street basketball NGO GAM3's summer clinics, reaching more than 1000 young people from multiethnic communities in five different cities. On the GAM3 component of their program our break-dance and hip-hop professionals teamed up with NBA and WNBA players Jamal Sampson (Denver Nuggets) and Andrea Stinson (Charlotte Sting) as part of the Embassy's effort to support GAM3's effort to integrate young people from Denmark's multiethnic communities into organized after-school sports and cultural activities. Rosie Bichon and Isaac Barron's program in Denmark was co-sponsored by the State Department Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Cultural Envoy Program and the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen.
