Ambassador Cain at cornerstone ceremony for the Copenhagen Towers Project

On January 15th Ambassador Cain joined Minister for Economics and Business Bendt Bendtsen and Mayor for Housing in Copenhagen Klaus Bondam at a “Cornerstone Ceremony” for the Copenhagen Towers Project in the Orestad.

Speaking at the event Ambassador Cain talked about the historic importance of the cornerstone ceremony saying: “In earlier times the cornerstone involved offerings of grain, wine and oil on the stone and that these were symbolic to the society of that time.” He added, “I am honored to be invited to this important event and look forward to see many American companies locate at these premises.”

The building project is the largest private construction in Denmark and when it’s finished it will include a Crowne Plaza hotel and host a number of international companies.  The hotel is set to be complete before the UN Climate Summit takes place in Copenhagen in December 2009.
