The Immigrant Visa Unit answers telephone inquiries on Mondays and Thursdays between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m.
VISIT US DURING OUR WALK-IN HOURS:
Walk-ins are only served on Tuesdays and on Fridays between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.
Walk-ins are:
• Persons with general questions regarding immigrant visas
• Persons dropping off documents missing at the time of the scheduled interview
• Persons who have been informed their visas are ready and can be picked up
• Persons who are picking up their Re-entry Permits
• Persons who are returning (abandoning) their "Green Cards"
• Persons whose "Green Cards" have been lost or stolen
Appointments are not required for the abovementioned services rendered during walk-in hours.
The following services do require an appointment: Petition filing, immigrant visa interviews, fiancé(e) visa interviews.
TIPS FOR A SMOOTH VISIT:
DO NOT BRING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING ITEMS TO THE EMBASSY:
• Electronic devices (such as: cell phones, laptop computers, cameras, iPods, MP3 players, etc.)
• Weapons or tools
• Backpacks, suitcases or other large bags
• Food or beverages of any kind (except for milk for babies).
Please note: Every applicant must pass through a metal detector and all bags and other carried personal items will be passed through an x-ray machine. You may be
asked to remove items like belts with metal belt buckles before passing through the
metal detector. In order to reduce your waiting time at the security checkpoint, we
recommend that you do not bring any unnecessary personal items to the Embassy.
