Visa check list
It is critically important that you have all elements of your visa application ready before coming to your interview. If you do not, we reserve the right to turn you away, requiring you to book a new appointment at a later date.
All applicants must present the following 5 items at their interview:
-
Confirmation of submitting DS-160 via the Internet
Complete your DS-160 and print out the one-page confirmation page that has the bar code on it, to bring to your interview—you do not need to print out the entire form. After completing the DS-160 you must book your appointment. -
Original Danske Bank Receipt for Application Fee
Please visit our Fees page for information on how to pay the MRV application fee at Danske Bank. Any applicant who does not present the original fee receipt showing the correct payment will have to return to Danske Bank, make the appropriate payment, and then re-schedule a new visa appointment. Payment by Internet banking or other online payment is not acceptable. Please note that no refunds will be made for any fees that are transferred incorrectly. The original fee receipt must be presented when the visa application is submitted at the Embassy. Only applicants for A-1, A-2, A-3, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, G-5, C-3, NATO, and U.S. Government-sponsored visas are exempt from the MRV fee. -
Your Valid Passport
If your passport is damaged (spine is broken), or you do not have a page for a visa, please get a new passport before your interview. -
One Photograph
Even if you successfully uploaded a photo to the DS-160, please bring one regular passport style photograph to your interview. The photo should be less than 6 months old and with a white background. The ideal format is U.S. passport sized, measuring 5 cm x 5 cm. (more...) -
Envelope A medium-sized (C5), self-addressed envelope with DKr. 92.00 in stamps for your passport to be returned by registered mail to an address within Denmark. Please paste the stamps on the upper right corner of the envelope. You will not receive your visa at the interview. We will mail your passport when we have finished processing your visa. The Embassy offers no pick up service.
Besides these 5 essential items, certain visa categories require additional documentation.
If you fall into one of the following categories, do you have the additional documentation?

When visiting the Embassy
-
Please have a form of photo identification available to present to the guard. Once verified, the guard will begin the security scanning process, which is similar to that of most international airports.
When entering the security area, the guard will ask you to empty your pockets of all metal items, no matter what size and shape. Belts with a metal buckle must also be removed.
All small electronic items, such as mobile phones, iPods, MP 3 players and USB keys, must be left with the guards. The items stay in the security area, where you may recover them upon your departure. The guard provides a receipt for your items.
Due to security restrictions, no portable computers, iPads, eReaders such as Kindles or Nooks and large bags (back packs, suitcases, etc.) are allowed in the embassy. You are strongly advised not to bring such items to the embassy.
Knives and other weapon-like items are prohibited in the Embassy. If you have a knife or other weapon like item on your person or in your baggage, you must tell the guard. Any knife or other weapon like item found by the guard during the search will be confiscated and turned over to the Danish police. You are strongly advised to leave all knives and other weapon-like items at home.
After emptying your pockets, please walk through the metal detector. If cleared by the detector and the guard, you continue forward and may recover your non-electronic items.
