Appointment Booking Check List

ATTENTION:  It is critically important that you have all elements of your visa application ready before coming to your interview.  If you do not, we reserve the right to turn you away, requiring you to book a new appointment at a later date.  The requirements are listed below.

(Please print out this page to use as a check list.)

All applicants must present following documents at the interview:

Your Valid Passport

If your passport is damaged (spine is broken), or you do not have a page for a visa, please get a new passport before your interview.

One Photograph

If you uploaded your photo to the DS160 form, please bring one regular photo in the requested format to your interview, in case your photo did not upload properly to the DS160.
The photo must be a U.S. passport sized photo.  Each side of the photo must measure 5 cm x 5 cm, and the head must measure between 2.5 cm and 3.5 cm from the top of the head to the chin.  (more...)

Original Danske Bank Receipt for Application Fee

There are now four tiers of MRV fees, please ensure that you have visited our Fees page and determined the proper fee to pay at Danske Bank. The Embassy will not accept fee receipts showing payment of less than the correct amount.  Anyone who does not pay the correct amount will be directed to return to Danske Bank and pay the correct amount.

The non-refundable machine readable visa (MRV) fee must be paid at any Danske Bank branch in Denmark into the U.S. Embassy account, Reg. No. 0252, Account No. 0010601967.  Payment by Internet banking is not acceptable.  Please note that no refunds will be made for any fees that are transferred incorrectly.  The original fee receipt must be presented when the visa application is submitted at the Embassy. Only applicants for A-1, A-2, A-3, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, G-5, C-3, NATO, and U.S. Government-sponsored visas are exempt from the MRV fee.

 Completed DS-160 Application Form

Complete your DS-160 by clicking on the “Complete Your DS-160” button at the bottom of the page.  When you have completed the application, print out the one-page confirmation page to bring to your interview—you do not need to print out the entire form.  You must print out the confirmation page because it has a bar code that you will need to schedule your appointment, and we will use this bar code to retrieve your application information at your appointment.  For more information on the DS-160, please visit our DS-160 web page.  After completing the DS-160 you must return to this web page and click the "BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT" link at the bottom of the page and schedule your appointment.

Envelope

A medium-sized, self-addressed stamped envelope with DKr. 90.00 in stamps for your passport to be returned by registered mail. You will not receive your visa at the interview. We will mail your passport when we have finished processing your visa. The Embassy offers NO PICK-UP SERVICE .

More about applying for a Visa

When visiting the Embassy

  • when visiting

Please have a form of photo identification available to present to the guard. Once verified, the guard will begin the security scanning process, which is similar to that of most international airports.

When entering the security area, the guard will ask you to empty your pockets of all metal items, no matter what size and shape. Belts with a metal buckle must also be removed.

All small electronic items, such as mobile phones, iPods, MP 3 players and USB keys, must be left with the guards. The items stay in the security area, where you may recover them upon your departure. The guard provides a receipt for your items.

Due to security restrictions, no portable computers, iPads, eReaders such as Kindles or Nooks and large bags (back packs, suitcases, etc.) are allowed in the embassy. You are strongly advised not to bring such items to the embassy.

Knives and other weapon-like items are prohibited in the Embassy. If you have a knife or other weapon like item on your person or in your baggage, you must tell the guard. Any knife or other weapon like item found by the guard during the search will be confiscated and turned over to the Danish police. You are strongly advised to leave all knives and other weapon-like items at home.

After emptying your pockets, please walk through the metal detector. If cleared by the detector and the guard, you continue forward and may recover your non-electronic items.
