Nonimmigrant MRV Fee

Each visa applicant must pay the appropriate Machine Readable Visa (MRV) fee, as listed below.  All fees must be paid at any branch of Danske Bank into the US Embassy account, Reg. No. 0252, Account No. 0010601967.

Payment by Internet banking is not acceptable, and you will be required to go to a Danske Bank branch and make an additional payment.   Please note that no refunds will be made for any fees that are transferred incorrectly.

Please read carefully to determine which fee you must pay.  This fee must be paid prior to your interview.  Anyone who does not pay the correct amount will be directed to return to Danske Bank and pay the correct amount.

  • Applicants whose visa is based on an approved petition from the Department of Homeland Security.  This includes Temporary Worker or Trainee (H); Intracompany Transferee (L); Alien with Extraordinary Ability (O); Athlete, Artist, or Entertainer (P); International Cultural Exchange Visitor (Q); and Religious Worker (R).  The MRV fee is 1110 Dkr.
  • Treaty Trader/Treaty Investor (E).  The MRV fee is 1570 DKr.
  • Fiancé/Fianceé and Some Spouses of U.S. Citizens (K).  The MRV fee is 1400 DKr.
  • For all other visa classes, including tourist/business travelers (B), crew and transit passengers (C and D), students (F), journalists/media representatives (I), and exchange visitors (J), the MRV fee is 930 DKr.

This fee must be paid BEFORE the applicant arrives to the Embassy for their scheduled interview. Any applicant who fails to make payment before their scheduled appointment time will forfeit the appointment and must rebook a new appointment on the internet.

The application fee is non-refundable; no refund will be made if the visa is denied or if the applicant decides not to pursue an application. The original fee receipt must be presented when the visa application is submitted at the Embassy.

Only applicants for A-1, A-2, A-3, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, G-5, C-3, NATO, and U.S. Government-sponsored visas are exempt from the application fee.

Visa Reciprocity Fees

Applicants from certain countries that charge U.S. citizens special fees for visas may be required to pay an additional visa issuance/reciprocity fee. Please note that this issuance fee, unlike the processing fee, is not to be paid in advance. If you qualify for the visa, you will be asked to pay the fee to the consular cashier after your interview. Applicants may consult the U.S. Department of State’s Visa Reciprocity Fee table for more information.

SEVIS Fee (effective September 1, 2004)

Students applying for F or M visas with I-20 forms and exchange visitors applying for J visas with DS-2019 forms issued on or after September 1, 2004 must pay a SEVIS fee. This fee covers the cost of administering the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). This fee must be paid before the student applies for a visa. Derivative applicants (F-2, M-2 and J-2) do not have to pay a SEVIS fee.

Fee Changes

  • Adjustment of Visa Processing Fees on 13 April, 2012

Effective April 13, 2012, the Department of State will adjust visa processing fees. The fees for most nonimmigrant visa applications and Border Crossing Cards will increase, while all immigrant visa processing fees will decrease.  The Department is required to recover, as far as possible, the cost of processing visas through the collection of application fees. For a number of reasons, the current fees no longer cover the actual cost of processing nonimmigrant visas. The nonimmigrant visa fee increase will support the addition and expansion of overseas facilities, as well as additional staffing required to meet increased visa demand.  For more complete information, please visit the Department of State’s main web site.

The proposed fees were published in the Federal Register on March 29, 2012, and will take effect in 15 days. To view the interim final rule, visit www.regulations.gov. Comments will be accepted until 60 days after publication. At that time, the Department will consider the public comments, and the published final rule will include the Department’s response to any comments received.

To submit comment on the propose fee changes,

All individuals applying for visa services on or after April 13 must present a fee receipt from Danske bank showing payment of the correct fees.  However, for all individuals applying after April 12, the Embassy will accept Danske Bank fee receipts issued on or before April 12 showing payment of the old MRV fee until July 12, 2012.  Any individual presenting a Dansk Bank fee receipt issued on or after April 13 for the incorrect fees will be directed to return to Danske Bank and pay the difference.
