What types of visas are available?
The following provides information on visa requirements for travelers to the United States who wish to visit, work or study for a temporary period. The type of visa required will depend on the purpose of your travel.
- Immigrant Visas
An immigrant visa is required of anyone who wishes to enter the United States to reside there permanently, whether or not that person plans to seek employment in the United States.
Can I go to the U.S. without a visa?
- Visa Waiver Program
You can travel without a visa if you meet the requirements of the Visa Waiver Program and have a valid ESTA approval
Visas for same-sex spouses
Based on a recent ruling made by The U.S. Supreme Court, the Department of State will now process visas for same-sex married couples in the same manner that it considers applications for opposite-sex spouses.
